Livro de Graça é notícia nos Estados Unidos

Steven Byrd contributes children’s story to volume produced by Brazilian literacy project

BIDDEFORD, Maine Steven Byrd, Ph.D., associate professor of Spanish and Portuguese, was recently profiled on the website of the Literary Council of the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais. The website highlights books written about or published in the state.

Byrd was featured for his contribution last month to an edited volume of children’s stories created by the Minas Gerais Children’s Literacy Project, which aims to improve literacy and stimulate reading in Minas Gerais. It distributes 10,000 free books to children and adults in the city of Belo Horizonte every September. This year's book is titled Histórias Malucas de Crianças, Bichos e Algumas Assombrações (Crazy Stories about Children, Animals and Hauntings).

Byrd’s story, “A Aventura da Tazi” (“Tazi’s Adventure”), which was selected by the book’s editors, is about a cat named Tazi that gets out of the house, becomes lost and is then found.
